MEET AMY COSS

Posted
Amy Coss grew up next to a brook, and she likes to joke that water runs through her veins. So it makes sense that she would come to spend her working life in the River Towns.
In 1990, Amy joined her mother, Elsie, as a partner at Sojourner, the Lambertville shop that specializes in clothing, jewelry, housewares and beads from around the world. The same year she also started volunteering for Shad Fest, the annual celebration of the city’s most famous fish. Seven years later she took what she calls “a twenty-year detour,” joining her brother, Ed, as a partner at the Milford Oyster House, a popular restaurant on the New Jersey side of the Delaware River. Amy also counts food—and writing about food—among her abiding passions, and in this issue she returns to our pages to profile Stockton Inn Chef Bob Truitt.
These days she’s running Sojourner on her own—her husband, Bob, handles jewelry repairs—sourcing the store’s stock from her global travels. Around Lambertville, she’s just as well known for co-chairing, with Jane Wesby, the annual Shad Fest poster auction, which this year provided $60,000 in scholarships to three local arts students.
“It is the warm pink light at the end of the day that drew me to Lambertville,” says Amy, “That and the amazing people I’ve met who are always ready to come together to do good.”
